Help. I have found this forum extremely helpful in the tent purchasing process. Please don't let me down now!
I now have tent and my friend wants me to join her on a trip to the Isle of Wight the day after tomorrow, but has has no idea where to go and to get the best price we have to book the ferry tomorrow. I don't want to commit before I have some idea what I'm subjecting my kids (2 and 3) to.
Does anyone have any advice tonight or tomorrow morning? Where is good on the Isle of Wight for kids, aged 2, 3 and 6, for camping in tents, with a play area and stuff for them to do somewhere close by. thanks.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Hi, we use wightlink cos they take tesco vouchers, but I believe Redfunnel work out cheaper if paying cash this ferry goes to East Cowes (I think) & its easy to get to all parts of the island. Last year we stayed at Carpenters Farm in St. Helens which was really cheap, small play area , clean facilities but long queue for shower ,nice site though.Year before we went to Ninham ,huge pitches ,loads of space ,fishing, pool but not at all "Haven like". Friends stayed at Whitefield Forest at Whitsun & said it is very good, brand new shower block, good play area.
The Island is a fab place for a holiday with loads to do have fun.
I would have a look at the reviews for the isle of wight and then ring around and see who has space. If you want to be close to all the attractions etc, would suggest somewhere near to Shanklin, Sandown or Ventnor as lots to do around there.
Suggestions of places to visit (we go to the Island a lot, but dont camp as mate has a chalet over there), Robin Hill is brilliant, but all outdoors. We love the beach at Sandown and you can hire a beach chalet for the day for under £10. Blackgang is great for the kids too, both Robin Hill and Blackgang allow you to return within about 5 days for free, so a great filler.
We also went to the Tiger sanctuary in Sandown and the dinosaur museum next door is great for a rainy day
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
