have you tried lower grange farm at frome, it is listed on the longleat site. We have stayed there a couple of times, it has basic facilities, just two toilets, sink, water taps and waste disposal.
But the owners are very welcoming and you can see longleat from the site, it's also fairly cheap £10 - £12 for hookup. They are members of the camping and caravanning club but each time we stayed there we weren't members and they never asked us if we wanted to join.
We have stayed there in august and it only had a few caravans spread out in a large feild. So plenty of room.
