Hmmmm...went to this site recently and had a terrible time! We ended up leaving a day early due to the excessive noise late at night/early morning. The site itself was clean and the lake was very pretty, but we wouldnt go back there.
We've been twice this summer and haven't had any problems with noise. It was busy with kids running round (including our two) until about 21:30 -22:00 but fine after that.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Been to this site 4 times already, going again for August Bank Holiday week. Never had any problems at all with late night noise, Alison (the owner) usually keeps that in check with a midnight patrol of the site. I think maybe Songbird was very unlucky to have a bad experience at this site, I did read the thread earlier this year regarding the noise and was quite astonished that this had happened, maybe Alison was not there when you visited, or ill perhaps.
Anyway, I can't wait to go next week, it's a really "relaxing" campsite, kids can play all day and you don't have to worry about them like you do on the bigger commercial sites, especially if you get a pitch around the edge of the playground field. Excellent pub on site too, serving great food (booking advised at busy times) and fantastic beer (looking forward to a few pots of riggwelter ....... again)
Give it a try I say!
Cheers,
Spiny.
