So, i'm due to take my tent to the Haven at Lakeland tomorrow and have been told that the tent part is a boggy mess! I have excusions booked and will loose money if i don't go but will it be worth it or will i end up washed away down the road due to the inadequate drainage??? Advice would be welcomed please!
Carol.

Have been on that site in our tourer when it has been flooded one May Bank holiday - not a pretty site.
Maybe you should look for an alternative site just in case it's too bad to pitch on. Then you wouldn't miss out on your excursions,or loose any money you've paid out.
Hi Have you contacted haven to see how bad the field is,I am sure if it is really bad they would have phone you they did with us ,We were due to go to Kilnpark ,Tenby on the 10/8,they phone the day before we were due to go to cancel the holiday as the field was flooded. They did offer us Lakeland but we decided to get a full refund ,which they did offer us,and went to parkfoot in the lake district instead,p.s. if you do go please let me know what the campsite is like.

Thanks for these comments. Haven DID call us but to say that there are limited spaces and gave us the option to cancel. You can never tell if they're playing it down or not! We're going anyway! I'll post the outcome on Sunday night!!
We went last year in October - was booked in for 12 nights but only stuck it for 3 & that was in a tourer! It was a mud bath everywhere on the camping/touring field so best of luck.

I wouldn't go. We were at Lakeland a couple of years ago, and ended up going home a day early because the field was flooded. We weren't the only ones, at a guess I would say that most people packed up that morning. Field was wet when we went, rained best part of the time we were there, and on the Friday I got up and paddled to the loo block.
Saying that I would go back, when the weather bucks up a little. Like most sites they have been badly affected by the almost constant rain.
Just to let you know (not sure how much use this will be).......but it has rained here in Blackpool all night and is still pouring down.....I would suggest ringing them again and if you decided to cancel ask for a refund......maybe have a look at going to another site with better drainage or suggest to them you want to come at a later date due to the weather.
Hi Carol Think you were right as it's rained for about three days straight here (Cumbria) on top of what was already wet ground. Lakeland camping field is not the best at good times of the year and I think it will prob be under water by now.
Have a good time at Blackpool - Marton Mere is nice.

Hi Carol, well I can honestly say you had a lucky escape. My daughter booked this site for a family celebration (herself, husband & 2 small children in a tent, me, my husband our daughter & grandaughter in our motorhome. We were shocked to see when we arrived on 4/08/08 to see the entire field under water, to say it was a disaster is an understatement, my daughter ended up in tears on her birthday, & we all ended up driving home again, we were so annoyed we had not received a phone call from the site informing us of the state of the field, thus saving us, time, money & disapointment.I wish we had read the reviews for this site first before booking.
Dawn :O)
Sorry just realized I put the wrong date in but couldn't edit my post, it should of read 4/09/08.
The weather is awful it hasn't stopped raining since we got back I dread to think what the field is like now!
Looks like we really did have a lucky escape. Marton Mere was adequate, spent most of the time in Blackpool so didn't see much of it. However, managed to spend £30.00 in the amuements in about an hour!!!
The swimming pool was disappointing too compared to the one at Primrose Valley only one slide ! It was clean and tidy though so no complaints there. Marton Mere doesn't have anywhere for tents but we had a look at where the caravans were and it looked fine lots of hard standings and no flooding!!!
Think we make the right decision in the end but probably won't go to Lakeland at all now, will try somewhere else.
I've looked at Haven sites recently but the £3 per dog per night puts me off. (I have 2 little dogs, they don't use any of the facilities so why the high price?)
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
