Can anyone suggest a good campsite within easy driving distance of Carlilse, my wife and i have just returned from knight stainforth but feel we wish to go further afield.

By the way, we have a tent.

Someone on here lives in Carlisle - hopefully they will be along soon.

Have you used the Radius Search from here  and read the reviews for sites nearby?

We have stayed at Dalston Hall in the past and enjoyed it , If golf is your thing it has a golf course adjacent to the site ,and a small shop and clubhouse on site too .

Easy driving distance into Carlisle .

Some friends of ours were there more recently (August bank holiday) in thier caravan , and they thoroughly enjoyed it .

We have stayed here  at Green Acres Caravan Park.  Just along the road from Houghton Hall Garden Centre (you can see the Garden Centre from the M6)  It's a short drive into Carlisle and convenient for attractions that you might wish to visit.  It's quite a small site with only one shower each in toilet block, but when we were there it was quiet and this wasn't problem.  The site itself is very neat and tidy and peaceful.  There is a small play area and a nice dog walk.  Good value too.

I live in Carlisle but i'm sorry i can't really help much as i don't tend to camp near here!!  I have heard very good reports about the green acres site but i haven't actually been myself so i can't really comment!

Hope you find what you're looking for.

The Green Acres site is an ideal location if it is the Carlisle area you are wanting to explore. You could also look at Silloth if you want a slightly more seasidey site but it isnt Blackpool if thats what you like.
