We regularly go to haven sites usually out of the main season when there is loads of special offers, and as Andy have never had any issues with them. You dont have to spend money if you dont want to.

Hi,
If you want this type of site I can highly recommend Searles of Hunstanton.
Big park, but family run. Plenty of activities for the kids. Most activities are free, apart from the sports coaching sessions and I think the pottery class.
Entertainment at night good, certainly non of the problems related to spending money mentioned in the Haven posts.
Pitches are great, as are all the other facilities. Gets very busy during school holidays, but then where dosent?
Close to the town, beach and Tesco is just across the road.
Hi, have been on a couple of Heaven Hols and could'nt wait to go home, caravans to close togeather, expensive on site, and I have noticed you need transport to (escape) to leave site as they are nearly all not within walking distance of alternative amusement, now, Parkdean on the other hand, we have had some wonderful holidays at Crantock Beach Holiday Park, clean, within walking distance of village and bus stops to other towns, more sedate type of parks, although they do larger parks but they seem better than Heavens cram em in type of style, also Parkdeans caravans come with everything as standard like bed linen and microwave and their prices and accomadation are far better quality and the comfort is second to none.

Why do all those who hate Haven's rip-off attitude go to the 'entertainment' then ? Surely the easiest thing would be to avoid that sort of stuff like the plague ? Genuine qusetion btw.
Maybe we're just lucky, our kids would rather have their toenails pulled with a pair of blunt pliers than go to that sort of stuff. So we can go to Haven and enjoy the pool, the sports court, etc and the (very) odd night in the amusements, we still feel we get value for money, but we don't have all the money-grabbing shows.
We have been using parkdean sites for the last ten years, we have only been to the ones in cornwall, they are really nice. Sea acres at kennack sands, Holywell Bay and Crantock Beach, lovely sites.

I dont know which Haven sites you have been to but the only one i found that we feel cramped at is Maton Mere , all the others have been more than large enough. In fact the pitch down at Perran Sands we could have fitted another unit in the space that we were given!
As per other comments if you dont want to spend the money you dont need to we have an agreement with ours that they have a given amount for the day and then they have another amount for the evening, and then we dont go into the entertainment every night sometimes we just do other stuff.
