I wondered if any of you could settle a little bit of an argument between me and my OH....

Can you fish on the Lakes in the Lake District? If so is there a charge?

Any suggestions on sites in the Lakes with close access to the water (for fishing, if we can). We have a caravan.

Hi there Debbieha, not sure if u can fish free of charge or not but a site i go to a lot is Fallbarrow which is actually on lake windermere its a good site but can be pretty pricey.

That's right, you need a rod licence from the water authority and a permit from the owner of the fishing rights.

We have just returned from Lowther Park near Penrith where you could fish on the River Eamont. Its a lovely site and is handy for all of the Lake District and only 5 mins off Junc 40 of the M6.  My hubby says you need a rod licence for where ever you fish in England and this needs to ne renewed annually.
