This might sound like an odd request as most people go camping to get away from it all. We have camped a few times at Keswick and it only takes about 10 minutes to walk into town from the camp site. Do any of you know of any other sites like this which are easily walkable into a town. My other half drives for a living so we try not to have to use the car too much when we are camping as it can turn into a bit of a busmans holiday for him (doesn't drive a bus though).
Thanks.

Thanks for your help. We have been looking at a site near Norwich which looks promising but would really like to know of any others so that we have a bit of a choice.

We've camped at a site in Llangollen which is about 5 minutes walk into the town - a mighty steep walk mind you, good for the calf muscles. Nice little place albeit a bit basic on the facilities side, but lovely views over the Dee valley and far enough from Llangollen to feel out in the open country.
Lots of pubs, restaurants and cafes in Llangollen, including a great little place down a side street off the main drag that does coffee and bacon butties. Great Sunday morning treat
Come to Filey! Although I haven't stayed at the two sites, heard that they are generally okay, Centenary way and Filey Brigg. Centenary way is situated as you come into Filey and is a ten minute walk into town or down onto the beach. Filey Brigg is a council owned site and is on the cliff top, literally two minutes onto the beach and a ten minute walk into town.
When we were at Mere Farm (Hunmanby nr Filey0 the family in the caravan next to our tent went off every night to a council owned site for the bar and facilities etc. It would prob have been Filey Brigg.

Not sure about that, cos there isn't a pub on the cliff top. Although a five minute walk from Centenary way through another campsite brings you to the Sports field club that I know is popular with campers. (think they put on bingo in the summer)
Lickhill Manor at Stourport - walk along the path at the side of the river in to the town.
If you're a C & C C member, there's a nice litle CS - Willow Lane - which is a short walk in to the picturesque historical town of Beverley in East Yorkshire.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
CC sites. Cherry Hinton, Cambridge. Seacroft, Cromer. Rowntree Park, York. Can't remember the name, but the one at Cirencester. The CC site has a filter to show you sites within 1/2 mile of town/village etc.

He kept trying to explain where it was to us but we weren't really interested so just did the polite nodding bit and had no idea where he meant. Too many things to do (well sitting outside doing nothing whilst the children played) on site so didn't need to go out and about at night. Must admit Filey was our favorite 'seaside' spot. Brid and Scarborough nice too but Filey just had it (Hunmanby is nice too)
