hi we are booked in at grantown on spey for christmas just wondered if anybody knows what it is like up there at that time of year?? regards michael

We used to live about 35/40 minutes away from Grantown. We only had one non white Xmas day(in 8 years), but always had snow around christmas. The weather does vary though.

In general Scots do Hogmanay bigger than crimbo. Lots to see and do, dont forget your snow chains!

Depending on the weather and forecast - but if it is snowy check that the snow gates are open before setting off!!

I recall one trip back home to Scotland where we had to do a massive detour in hideous conditions! Took forever and ever.

For the last few years there hasn't been much snow in Grantown till after Hogmanay. Nice town, The Garth Hotel is really good for a meal. If you are there for Hogmanay there is a good party in the town square from about 11pm till 2am with a ceilidh band and fireworks - all free. Good atmosphere.
