We used condor ferries last year from Portsmouth to Cherbourg. All the freight appeared to me to be holidaymakers. When you arrive at Portsmouth, it appears to be the poor relation compared to the Brittany ferries boat in port at the same time! It is basically 4 hours on a big cafe, but it is extremely competitively priced and I would definitely use them again. There was a recliner lounge that was extra and also a bar area. There is a small amount of outside seating. We took our own food although the food served on board didn't appear to be too overpriced. We would be on the boat again this year if the euro wasn't so dire.

Hi Darren

we used this ferry last year and thought it was fine.  We paid the extra for the club class lounge( about £8 each) with unlimited hot and cold drinks, biscuits and newspapers.  I think it is basic compared to Brittany Ferries, but a fraction of the cost - we are using them again this year.

There is a CC site near to Portsmouth that takes late arrivals - but can't remember the name. We drove home to Liverpool after getting in at 9.30 last year - the roads were a dream - no traffic!

I hope this helps.

If you have a caravan longer than about 21ft they won't take you.We were looking into going to France and contacted Condor before deciding what to do-our caravan is almost 27ft long and they wouldn't accept us because-as they told me- it's not a roll on roll off ferry;you actually have to turn your outfit around and there was just no way we would do it;there just isn't the space. So we gave up on that idea!!

My old van was 26ft and they took me on the same route.

The Condor fast ferry however is a different story.

Rookesbury Caravan club site, is just up the road. They a have a late night arrivals area. We have used it quite a few times.
