The area is pleasant enough, it's half a mile over the hill from here but I have never really looked at the site which just seems to be a greenfield in a pleasant place whenever I go past.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
The area is OK, we often take the dog walking there.
The `greenfield` appears to be more of a rally field with little in the way of amenities, with the main site looking a bit cramped, run down and not particularly inviting. Maybe perhaps because there is little alternative in the area .
Depends what you are after I suppose.

Stayed here a couple of times, and would go back. Handy for visiting my sister just up the road in Shaw. OK the site is very basic, but I have always found the staff very friendly. Showers and toilet block clean. I put 40p in the showers last time I was there, and got more than enough hot water for the three of us. Shower cubicles in the old block are nice and roomy, which is great when you have to take two kids in with you.
Rang them last week and was told they wouldn't be open for tents for some timesyet, when I asked about possible opening for tents I was told "nearer summer".

The fields round here are more than a bit wet at the moment, especially those down in the bottoms like the field at Hollingworth lake
