Hi All,

Great website, got loads of valuble info from here already, including which tent to buy. We took the plunge today and spent a shed load of cash.

So, we are looking for a site for our first outing. We live in south yorkshire approx 9 mile from sheffield so east or west coast are more or less the same distance.

We have a small dog, a 10 year old and a 13 year old "kevin the teenager" so the site must be suitable for all. I would also like somewhere with some good photo opportunities around the coast as I am a keen togger.

The tent is an Outwell Vermont7. Is this classed as a large tent? And could it cause pitching some problems ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Duska :)

sounds like a "haven " type syte may suit you.

east coast./  reighton sands or primrose valley or golden sands

west coast/ cala gran  not sure on tent pitches though

a vermont 7 at nearly 8 metres may be too big for a single pitch. check out these.

Hi Guys/Gals,

Thanks for the replies.

To be honest I'm not really fancying the idea of a haven park(although I have never been to one)

They sound and look all commercialised but, I may have to go that route just to keep the kids happy and entertained. Hmmmmm.

I suppose google is my friend here, I will keep searching.

Cheers.

Hi Duska,

Do you need a pitch with electric hook up? Our sister park can take tents of all sizes on non electric pitches and have amazing views from the cliff top.

Full details are here: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3598

We would have pitches large enough so long as it is not a bank holiday weekend, quiet weekends we do not mind if you spread onto next pitch so much. Lots of nature photo opportunities!!

I wouldnt touch a Haven with a bargepole - especially in a tent. They are the worst "campsites"(using the phrase loosely), that i've EVER come across. Try looking for a less commercial site with entertainment. Haven parks are terrible.

There's a few nice sites in the Silloth/Solway firth area. And for the East coast there are Flower of May is a nice site (maybe too close though in Cayton bay).

And of course above - Crows nest is a site we have earmarked to visit.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

Its great to hear that you are and running with your tent, and raring to go! I am sure you will all love it, as we do.

We have a two children 11 and 13. One of our favourite sites is 'Woodhouse Farm' at Winksley. Its 3 miles from fountains abbey, Ripon. I know you fancied a coastal site but this site is really nice. It has its own fishing lake which my hubby and son get enjoyment from. Lots of space for the kids to enjoy. Little shop. The toilet blocks are really nice, underfloor heating family bathroom avail etc. The pub on site is really nice for a meal if you want a night off the BBQ!

I can def recommend this site, espeically with you just getting started.

We are looking for a nice coastal site aswell, and have found Middleham wood farm on here that I think we are going to try in May.

Anyway good luck - Happy Camping!!

Ali&John

Gibraltar Farm, Silverdale just south of The Lakes. Coastal, no pitch restrictions, chilled, kids and teenagers can roam free, village is ten minutes away with shops and places to eat. No EHU for tents though.
