Has anyone any experience of Golden Valley caravan and camping site in Derbyshire?
The site is in the directory on here but it says that the site has requested no reviews or comments which sounds very dodgy to me???
We may be going there this weekend.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
It used to get good reviews, until inexplicably they insisted they wouldn't accept them anymore, despite us doing everything we could to change their minds.
We used to live near there and over winter when we were visiting my Gran we had a drive round the site.
It looked OK, nothing looks brilliant in winter! A big slope to tow up to get to the top field, nothing much in the area, it's not Derbyshire as in beautiful hills and dales.
Didn't see any people so can't comment on the owners, but I heard they are quite strict.
be careful with the price, works out at £43 per night for a caravan and 4 people. (£23 for van+2 then £10 per person after that).
I was looking at going myself for whit weekend after being recommended by a work colleague, but the price for five of us(£53 per night) put me off.
Now going to another site for £22 per night all in.
we went to golden valley for easter week mon-fri it was fantastic 2 adults 2 kids n a dog ehu £132 the kids were never near tent (very larg see my profile picks)on the play areas all the time ,some gr8 walks too,the staff were outstanding, darren the takes pride in the park and so he should,he has worked hard and spent alot of money on getting the park right,we only live 25mins away and already planning the next trip,we did however see one family asked to leave for braking rules but i would have backed the staff all the way the feller was a total a**hole.we said it felt like we were in devon not derbyshire 10 out of 10.
just come back from a fri-sun trip, and i have to say, what a fantastic site !!!!!!!!
couldn't have wished for better weather, this time of year too. all the amenities are first rate, play area for the kids, cafe, bar and the toilet and shower facilities are first rate. we had a e.h.u. pitch, just across from the cafe bar reception area. the site felt very safe for kids to play.
all the staff were very friendly (including Darren)
my only gripe, if you are camping, make sure you take rock-pegs as the ground is hard and stoney.
all in all £56 for the weekend. not the cheapest, but if you want quality you have to pay for it.

Can highly recommend this site. Went on our first trip with our new tent couple of years ago, camped up in the woodland section. Well run site, loads for the kids, not noisy, would happily go again.
