I am planning to walk Mount Snowdon using the Pyg Track outwards and coming back via the Miner's Track.  Does anyone know if there is a campsite which takes campervans nearby where I can walk to the start of the routes rather than have to drive anywhere?

Many thanks

Mary

As your walk will start and finish at pen y pass, you won't find a campsite there ......so its a question of how far you are willing to walk to get to pen y pass

Llwyn Celyn Bach (see its page on the UK campsite pages) is at the bottom of the railway and so is a walk of maybe 3 or 4 miles to Pen y pass

Llyn Gwynant Campsite is south of snowdon and a fair walk of 2 - 3 miles to pen y pass and its steep as its much lower altitude

Hope that helps - its depends on your fitness/ time etc but it may just be easier to drive to pen y pass and park (there is a more than adequate car park there

Good luck

When we walked up Snowdon last year we found the Sherpa bus service brilliant.  We used it most days for getting to and from pen y pass and to go into Bedgelert.

I usually use a farmers campsite at Nant Peris opposite the Vaynol Arms. Used by many walkers and climbers. Basic facilities (toilets, shower), but cheap. Just turn up and pitch. Farmers wife collects payment in the morning or knock on the farmhouse door - about £4 a night I think. Sherpa bus will take you to Pen-y-pass to the start of your route. Vaynol Arms is handy for a good meal and a drink or if you've still got enough energy you can walk in to Llanberis where there's the world famous Pete's Eats or the Indian restaurant.
