hi, we are thinking about going camping on the gower (near swansea) was wondering what peoples views are to which is the best campsite.
from the reviews on here Carreglwyd Camping & Caravan Park is looking the best choice but it does seem expensive.
we are a couple aged 30 & 28 looking for a nice peaceful getaway.
any views would be very much appreciated :)

We live in Swansea, and have been to a few of the Gower sites. Bank Farm is great, lovely club house for some food and drink and great walks. Nicholston Farm is lovely too you can 'Pick you own fruit and veg' . Very quiet site and lovely long down hill walk to a quiet beach, the walk back is another story lol.
nOt tried Three cliffs
------------- Dawnie
May: Hurley Riverside
June: Northam Farm
and Bank Farm!!
July: TBA
Aug : Woodovis
Carreglwyd is very busy on weekends and bank holidays. It can get a bit noisey and a bit full as he operates a pitch where you like system.
Its very good for the beach and there's a pub and shop close by.
We love it and we were there 3 times last year. Port eynon beach is great, watersport fishing swimming and of course sandcastles!
My tip would be to go on a Thursday or early Friday to get a decent pitch - he only takes bookings for EHU pitches.
might see you there, was hoping to get away this bank holiday but weather looks rubbish.

ps. We have stayed st Pitton cross which is much queiter site and has a walkway to a beautiful beach called mewslade - go at low tide - walk takes about 15 minutes through fields but well worth it. the beach is not accessable by roads and has an unspoilt charm to it. Facilities are good if a little old but kept clean and tidy.

We too have stayed at Pitton Cross and it is a lovely site with basic but very well kept facilities.
One thing I know though is that it is popular on BH weekends and the one downer I find with the Gower is if the weather is not favourable you are limited on places to go (especially with young children). But if it is a quiet, relaxing break you are looking for away from the hussle and bussle then go for it! Good luck. If we always rely on the British Weather Forecast we would never go anywhere! (That is what I am hoping anyway - away for whole week camping from Sat!)
------------- May 09 - Morben Isaf, Derwenlas
July 09 - Ad Astra Caravan Park, Anglesey
August 09 - Fforest Fields (hopefully!
August 2010 - Isle of Wight
2011 - Seasonal Touring Pitch at Morben Isaf
thanks again for the replys, we would be looking to go the weekend of 30th may if the weather isnt like it was the weekend just gone!
would be after a ehu for wherever we go and some clean shower blocks. was originally thinking of Carreglwyd because its had good reviews about the shower blocks and the views.plus its near the pub! will check out the other sites you have mentioned

Although we are at the gower at the moment and the weather is shocking!! Although yesterday afternoon was quite nice.
Lets hope it cheers up for bank holiday

Did you enjoy the rain we had this morning?
Oh it was fab!! Well yesterday afternoon it cheered up and we went to rhossilli, absolutely beautiful sat in the beer garden of the hotel/pub on the cliffs, after a long walk on the beach (tired dogs out)
I have to say despite the weather I am quickly falling in love with the area, its fantastic, I have never been before and have yet to be disappointed. I am even considering cancelling our next tripoout to Ilfracombe in July and coming back.
