Hi to all off for our first camping weekend wife two litte poodles and me really looking forward to it as well. You all seem a really nice lot I have been hovering over this site for a good year.

I read on one of the camp site searches that some one had something stolen from there tent. I thought that would not happen some sort of campers code of practice. Does this happen regular and should we take any precautions I had not given it a thought please advise.

It's awful to think that fellow campers would steal from another.  But I would say to keep anything valuable either on you (in a rucksack) or concealed and covered in the car perhaps.

Good luck - enjoy your trip

I think it is quite rare to have something stolen from a tent- most campers are quite nosy and will usually notice strange people around a nearby tent etc but obviously don't leave anything valuable on view.

Enjoy your weekend.

We had something stolen a few years ago and although it wasn't an expensive item, it upset my daughter as it was personal to her.  We are off to Clumber Park this weekend which has a reputation for having bikes stolen - there are lots of messages on here about it.  We should be ok as we aren't taking bikes but have been advised to chain up things like waste master & aqua roll.  It takes the enjoyment out of camping but in todays society, that's the way things are. Sad but true.

we have never had anything stolen in 25 years of camping, just make sure to keep valuables in your car and zip tent or  awning up when you go out.
