Having recently returned from our first visit to Tregarton Park in Cornwall, I feel I should write a short review of our visit there. On arrival, we were very impressed by the presentation of the park, begining with the manicured grass areas on the driveway aproach. On arrival at reception, the booking in process was faultless, the ordered hook-up cable waiting, and the pleasantness of the staff was a great 'kick off' to our holiday. We had pre-booked online, pitch 131 in Spring Meadow, and on arriving at our pitch, found it even better than expected. It was a huge pitch, with more than enough room for our Outwell Nebraska XL & vehicle, seperated from the next pitch by a timber fence. Both Drinking & Waste water were within a few paces walk, as were the refuse bins (emptied daily), all housed in a pleasant timber shelter. Being Bank Holiday week, the site was full, but at no time did it seem to be crowded, the toilet/shower block was superb, probably the best we have ever seen, and neither myself or my wife experienced any queing for the facilities at any time. The site shop provides almost anything you could want, and once again, the staff were very pleasant. We didn't use the pool, but it looked fabulous. Overall, the site was fantastic, as I have said, it was full, but after 10:00pm, all went quiet, allowing for peacefull nights. With the local beach (dog friendly) only a mile & half away, and Mevagissey being 2 miles, the site is perfectly situated, and nowhere in Cornwall seems too far from a great base. Would we return?, without a doubt!

Many thanks for your review. I hope you had the time to submit a review via my ukcampsite listing. I'm so pleased you liked the new toilets and showers - A lot of hard work went into them.
Once again, thank you, and all the team at Tregarton look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
Many thanks for a pleasurable stay, we are already talking about returning, this time with my daughters family. I have submitted a review via your listing, and hope it will be published in the near future.
Just thought I would add that I agree 100% with your review. Stayed last summer and had a fabulous time. Would go nowhere else if we went back to Cornwall

We also really enjoyed both our stays at Tregarton Park (whitsun & August bank holidays) Its a beautifully kept site with friendly owners & the warmest swimming pool (even in the rain). Can't wait to go back.

When I was a young lad in the mid-late 1970's we always used to go down to a site called Tregarton Farm near Gorran in the summer hols - is this the same site? I have looked on Google maps and it's in the same position as I remember it.
The site was pretty large, part sloping, with rambling farm buildings and cobwebs and spiders in the toilet block, me getting sweets, toys and comics from the shop. It was all absolute heaven for a young kid and the mates I inevitably made whenever I visited. I have dreamy memories of the playing area, flying kites and what seemed like weeks of bliss on Caerhays beach (it was weeks actually, my dad was a headmaster so we spent about a month there each August!).
I can't remember the name of the owners but the husband was always driving arround in his land rover with his two sons willing to help with anything (it sounds terrible but the only thing I remember is they all had khaki shorts and really thick glasses !!!)
Excuse my ramblings but they were the happiest of days ...... If this is is indeed the same place I endeavour to bring my family and caravan down to relive the whole experience!!

Yes Tregarton Park was called Tregarton Farm from 1971 to 1996 when we bought the park. The old owners were Mr. & Mrs. Wilkinson. Sadly Mr Wilkinson has died, however Mrs Wilkinson stills lives in Cornwall. Yes he did have thick glasses which was due to his tunnel vision.
Regards the park, it sounds like nothing changed from your holidays during the mid 70's until our arrival in 1996. I remember walking round the park on a visit prior to buying and also seeing the cobwebs!
A lot changed during the winter of 96. 1st November saw the completion date and we arrived in force, bringing with us our builders from our previous park to ensure work could begin straight away. The rambling buildings (as you describe)were converted, the toilets were updated, a road network was installed around the park, electric was installed to the pitches. All this was completed in 6 months. Our neighbours said to us more work had been done in 6 months than the past 20 years!
Over the next 12 winters further updating, improving and additions were completed with the arrival of tarmac roads, hedged pitches, all weather tennis court, new playground, new laundrette, a complete upgrade of the swimming pool complex and finally this winter saw the toilet and showers receive another re-vamp which we are very proud of.
A lot has changed since your last visit, however, the character of the park still remains from what you remember so I'm sure you would enjoy a holiday with us.
I am pleased my initial post has prompted a response, it's good to know that others have experienced the tranquility of 'Tregarton Park', and the post by snifferg, and response by Robert (Tregarton Park) has given us an insight into the history of the site as a whole. Go on snifferg, make a nostalgic visit, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Hi - we stayed at Tregarton Park for the 1st time in early-mid June this year. Fab park with HUGE spacious pitches . Very well maintained and I can only echo Petpin and the previous comments.
And... very reasonably priced . If we go back to this part of Cornwall we would definitely go back to Tregarton Park.

We had considered going there a couple of years ago but ended up not booking for various reasons. And this year we have a family wedding in Lancashire slap bang in the middle of our two weeks off.
Now we know how great it is (as if we didn't already from the reviews on here!) we will defintely make the long journey down next summer. And it's really comforting to see the owners coming on here and posting - I know how busy you must be, so it's doubly appreciated.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
