Would like to pick all your brains! Any recommendations for a campsite (for a tent) in Derbyshire which is child friendly please? Preferably on the M1 side as we have friends coming up from the South to meet us. We have previuosly stayed at Hayfield and loved it but thought about Matlock side for our friends.

I'm not sure where the location is to where you mention, but its ideal for visiting Alton Towers.  We went there about 3 years ago with a large tent and two girls and they enjoyed themselves.

We have been to Golden Valley in Ripley too and it was fantastic for the kids, they loved it!

Cottage Farm in Blackwell in between Matlock and Bakewell off the A6 was good.No playground but loads of space and safe.we took 3 kids.

Callow Top farm at Ashbourne or Newhaven Caravan and Camping site are the best I've been to in Derbyshire!

Their details are listed on this site already - and both within 15 miles of Matlock!
