Wondered if anyone could recommend a site for us. We are new to camping and have a 4 and 6 year old. I am keen to find a quiet family site. One that is quiet at night.
I would like a play area and also an area for ball games for the children. Also a shop on site would be helpful too and one with nice clean facilities.
Thanks very much for any recommendations.

Try Seadown in Charmouth - it seems to fit your bill perfectly!

I simply cannot recommend PearTree Park enough.
Simply excellent. Tent pitches are large, flat & set under lovely mature trees. Facilities are excellent & you've no worries with the little ones as the tent area is away from the road etc. The whole place had a fabulous family / community feel to it, & they seem to have just the right balance. There is a really nice play field also. Access is via a card barrier & the owners keep the place absolutely spotless but without an over-regimented feeling that some sites have.
We cannot wait to go back.
Only downside is Dorset...beautiful place but very expensive.
Make sure you head up to the top of Portland, there's a fabulous parking spot (and handy fish n' chip shop), that looks along Chisel Beach. Abbotsford Swan sanctuary is also well worth a visit.

East Fleet http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=East+Fleet&by=sitename in Weymouth has AMAZING family shower rooms. They are unisex but you have a whole bathroom so the family can all go together - which is great if you have little ones to keep an eye on whilst you shower etc. You need to be sure when booking that you ask to be in the field with the NEW shower facilities though because the other side of the sites shower facilities are nice enough but not the same! The play area is on the other side of the park across a lane though.
We really like West Fleet http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=West+Fleet&by=sitename which although did have evenin entertainemnt in the Barn it was quite low key and did not finish too late. They had brand spanking new shower facilities and family bathrooms as well. We asked to be pitched away from the barn and found it really poeaceful. The pool was OK. A bit oldie fash but good enough.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
