Looking for a campsite recommendation, within walking distance of a nice pub (for a meal) for 1 night in July.
We're heading to Longleat for the day and staying overnight in the area for a visit the next day to either Bath, Wells, Cheddar, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Hi we have chosen Midbrooks for our trip to longleat, its only a small site but allows campfires, the children can help the owner feed his animals and his wife makes cream teas to order.
short walk to the pub in steeple ashton which also gets good reviews
there currently booked up at weekends but if going midweek its certainly worth having a look at
We have stayed at lower grange farm, several times, the facilities are basic just 2 toilets and a sink. There is electric hookup on site and the owners are lovely. check the reviews on this site.

April: North Morte, North Devon
May: Lyndon Top, Rutland
May: Top Lodge.
June: Fairy's lodge
July: La Croix Du Vieux Pont
August: West Beeston,
Midbrooks looks great - have sent an enquiry to them. We're in a tent and the Longleat campsite looks like it only accepts caravans and members!
Found some others to try based on suggestions - Midbrook is my current first choice - sounds exactly what we want, close to a pub (it's my birthday that day!) and allows camp fires!
Thanks

were there on wed 29th july for 4nights, the children picked this site over one which had lots of play equipment on, the caveman in dad wanted the fire pit and yes the cream teas swung it for me.

Oh thanks for that Nicola, were there from next wed and really looking forward to it, non campers keep looking at me like im mad when i start talking about the molly bucket and how basic but fabulous it sounds to us..
Rovers11 I know what you mean about the non campers-my boss doesn't do less than a 4* and fshe's rom the States so is very bemused by camping in a tent. I showed her a couple of pictures and didn't seem to convince her.
There's a Hungry Horse pub about 10 mins away by car, very reasonable and play area outside.
The fridge freezer was a god send too! If you want eggs just buy them there, they were very nice!!!!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
