Hi all,

I'm thinking of booking a few nights here and just wanted peoples opinions on the place please. I've read the reviews and I like the sound of it but I wanted to know what there is in walking distance as I don't have a car. Market Bosworth is close but is it a safe walk from the site as it will just be myself and my 10 year old daughter? We would need to be able to walk to shops as I can't bring too much with me!

Is it a friendly place/suitable for a single mum? I'm quite happy in my own company but my daughter requires lots of other kids to play with!

Any advice much appreciated!

Not sure about a shop - there is a cafe on site so you can get fed and watered.  Great play area and I believe you can walk along the canal.  Well our cubs did last year.

Market Bosworth is the town in which I was born!

Yes, you can walk to it from the site, but its a bit of a hill, and probably about a mile? I m pretty certain there is a foot path for most of the way. (if not, its only for a short distance from the site entrance to the canal bridge) The road is safe enough, for a 10 year old anyway.

(just checked google earth, it s 1.2 miles to the market place from where you will pitch (approx)There is a small co op / one stop / Spar type shop there )

Sorry to be a bit vague about details, but I haven't lived there for 25 years, no way could I afford to live there now

The restaurant / cafe / bistro staff are friendly enough, tho I recall it being a tad on the pricey side?

The chippy is a bit closer to the site, and has won awards, I stayed at another site nearby recently and can agree, it certainly deserved the award!

I would have no qualms about being there as a single parent (but Id be a dad, not a mum ) Plenty to occupy a youngsters mind, my 11 year old loves it there

Hi

We stayed in May, the site was quite busy but not crowded. The on site shop doesn't really have that much but the is a local shop in Market Bosworth which sells most things. Its about 1.5 /2 miles along pavements so nice and safe. There were lots of other children on site so your daughter will have no problems finding friends. There is a play area /pirate ship but she may be a bit old for that although the kids do congregate around there. Theres a small but good crazy golf course which is good also. Then theres the lakes which are great to walk around esp in evening after warm day. You can see the enormous fish in the lakeThere is a beach on one of the shorelines which attracts kids etc for paddling. Water is nice and clean.

Our boys soon made friends (13 and 4) and really enjoyed themselves. Hope you and your daughter have a fab time.

We have just returned from Bossie (as we like to call it)

I've stayed there 4 times now and it seems like a friendly place for kids - they all seem to join in with each other and there is a bar/restaurant/cafe which is open in the evenings for the adults

The shop on site is fine for the essentials but thats about it (it did supply us with 3 ice creams one after another on Saturday which was yummy 17)

You should be fine at Bossie - hope you have fun!

A walk round the lake at sunset is a must 17
