Long awaited VW camper fully restored and ready to go all over Cornwall and Devon for the summer with partner...

Are the days gone when you can just turn up and pitch??

Booking ahead seems wrong!  .. any recomendations for coastal ( good surfing )camp sites greatly appreciated also..Cheers.

I know it's not Devon or Cornwall, but what about Pembrokeshire? New Gale and Freshwater West are both popular surfing beaches and New gale has a site almost on the beach which I beleive is a pitch and go type.

There are still many places where you can still turn up, it might just not be your first choice.  Might be best to phone first to see if they have space, even if its only an hour before.

We did manage to turn up on a site in Devon once.  The site we had booked was terrible when we got there so we didn't stay.  I think we must have been lucky because we went a few hundred yards down the road and found a wonderful farm - small, basic but clean facilities and lovely views ( far better than the one we left which was jampacked on a flat field with no views other than other units ).....However, we didn't have EHU.  I think you stand a far better chance withoyut EHU and you could even ask a farmer if you could stay in a field if its only for a night or two.

I can confirm from recent experience that New Gale is indeed a pitch and go site. Just head to the caravan when you arrive.
