Did you consider Gwithian Farm? It's not far from St. Ives. We have neither a dog or surf BUT there seemed to be quite a number of surfers camping there (including our nextdoor neighbours) who were surfing just down the road and one day they said they went down to Sennen Cove to surf. They were staying there for a week and had stayed there before due to the surfing.
Other people had dogs (met a wonderful border collie).
The site also had a wet suit shower outside.

try tollgate farm in perranporth.you sound like us 2 years ago,big tent,diablo 900 2 dogs,and surfboards.its a super site,no entertainment,but close enough to things.gets busy in summer,so be quick.dogs allowed on beach as well
