do you agree that if you book a site you should pay the balance before you go? we have just had 2 weeks abroad and never paid for any sites until we left and never paid a deposit when we booked.............but here you have to pay in full for them before you go even if you have paid a deposit. i suppose it is just like going on a package holiday and you pay the balance before hand i guess.

A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.

I have never had to pay the full charge in advance, but I can see the site owners' reasoning.
Looking at the number of posts by people cancelling due to the weather it is obvious that site owners cannot afford to turn people away then find that those who booked have not turned up.
A booking is a commitment that you will turn up, so paying in advance should not be a problem.

Nope, never paid in full. Deposit and finalise bill when finished or when we arrive. I'd especially do this for a camp site I've never visited before.

Here, only the greedy, large commercial sites want full payment before you go. Once paid you are screwed if the pitch is tiny, site not as stated etc and that sucks.

We usually have to pay a small deposit but not always. We just got back from 2 weeks, 2 sites. 1 was a commerical site with large water park and they wanted payment in full before we arrived. The pitch was not large and we could only fit the tent on pitched sideways. If we took a pup tent then it would have had to stay in the car. The other site wanted no deposit and on arrival we were told to pop in to reception the day before we left to settle up... nice attitude (damn nice site too ).

So if they want payment in full before arrival they can bog off lol

I prefer to pay in full at the time of booking as it helps to spread the cost a little bit - one less thing to have to budget for!
