Hi guys

I'm a newby and finding it difficult to book a campsite for this weekend. I know its last minute but am I being too niave? I thought the whole point of camping was to just up and go. Any tips on booking last minute?

keep an eye on my post as i think ive virtually asked the same question!! we were thinking of staying local and seem to be struggling too.

Sometimes it's better to ring sites than rely on their website, which might tell you they are full.  Knaresborough Caravan Club website said they were full, but I rang & they were able to fit me in.  Good Luck.

Plus it’s always worth trying, as sometimes people have to cancel due to redundancy or car breakdown or illness (I know though experience all has happened to us in the last 6 months!).

Though I do notice there is more availability if the weather is not so good!

I have had a look at around 30 sites GB and France and am amazed at how many showed spaces for August.  I understood from press and forums that there were no vacancies because of the increase in new campers.  Useful to know about this calandar facility.
