good evening,
I've trawled through lots of posts in the hope of finding a lovely (cost effective!) site for our family to head to the lakes for 4-5 days in august, 1st or 2nd week.
The ones I'm finding are coming out at twenty something per night (1 tent, 2 adults, kids, 7,5 and 2 and a puppy)
ideally the site will have showers but at least toilets! doesn't have to have out and out kids facilities, generally they are happy in a field.
It would be lovely to be near some water, with dog walks and a pub within walking distance would be ace!
Hollows farm ticks many boxes, but the cost screws it, similar story at low wray.
I guess we need somewhere that charges per pitch.
Can anyone point us to somewhere suitable?
thanks a lot
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Try Side Farm at Ullswater. We stayed there a few years ago and it was lovely. Right on the water and not far to Patterdale on the other side. Not to sure how much it costs now, but a very basic campsite and you can't book so if you arrive mid week there normally is no problem with getting a pitch. Quite a slope to the campsite but worth it for the lovely setting.
Hi, try bowkerstead farm nr Grizedale forest. They charge £6 per adult & £2.50 thats all, unless you buy wood from Arthur who owns the site then you can have a real campfire in the evening..
Just read the reviews their all good and my girls Aged 8&5 love it.
Lanefoot Farm was great, near Keswick. Two pubs within 15 mins walk, one that allows dogs. Great views of Skiddaw, allows campfires as well. I think it was 6.50 a night for adults, no charge for the dogs and £3 for electric. Facilities are very basic but ok, although it was relatively quiet. Found it was a great base for exploring the Lakes, loved it so much we are hoping to go back in September.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
