Been looking at options for next year's camping and like the idea of iow, been pricing it up based on this year's prices just to get an idea. Thought Grange Farm looked ideal as prefer uncommericial sites. After working it all out it's going to cost £175 for 2 adults 2 children staying on a large pitch without electric/ferry crossing. We've just got back from a similar site in Cornwall where it cost £105 though we did have to pay for showers that only cost about £10 for all of us for a week. Is this normal? if it is, i'll stick with the mainland.

i looked into whitecliff for july and thats came to £209 for 7 nights including ferry and electric with small extra payment for longer caravan to, the boat cost more than the site,
Been to IOW several times now, and find the cost of nightly site fees generally reasonable.
Naturally, the ferry is a significant extra cost.
Some notes on the ferries for you:
1) We found that there is no need to worry if you are early or late for your booked crossing. As long as you have a valid ticket, they will get you on the first crossing with available space.
2) We found Red Funnel consistently cheaper than Wight Link.
3) Check the inclusive Ferry / Camping packages offered by Red Funnel.
4) Red Funnel accept Tesco vouchers on a 4x face value basis.
As for site suggestions: Whitefield Forest, Beaper Farm and Carpenters Farm.
Hope this helps.

lovely, cheap, no frills site £11.50 a night incl EHU, £9 per night without.this price includes pitch and 2 adults, no charge for kids under 17, £4.50 per extra adult!
other cheaper sites, Kite hill at wootton, roebeck farm at upton nr ryde, heathfield farm at freshwater and stoats farm at freshwater. personally i wont go to grange farm as the price is far over what i would pay.
keep an eye out on the county press website (local rag) http://www.iwcp.co.uk/ as the ferries have special offers advertised on here, (voucher required).
i think that it is a lovely place to camp, the locals are the best, friendliest and kindest people in the uk.
not too expensive, if you ask me!

Think you an me are on the same wavelength, whats the name of your no frills site? it sounds good. I'll check out those other sites in meantime and put the county press site on my favs so i can keep an eye out for the offers
I can highly recommend Beaper Farm near Ryde. Also if you book a later ferry ( after 5pm) this significantly reduces the cost). We went to Beaper last August and as our ferry was not until early evening they let us stay on our pitch FOC!

if you can , catch the ferry after 8 pm, as the price drops a huge amout (or before 5 am)
if you plan to be arriving at silly o'clock, let me know, and i will tell you of places that you could go (the island doesnt wake up till a lot later lol , nothing will be open)
purpletam- sorry the name of the campsite is comforts farm, near cowes!
most of the nofrills places will let you leave later, as they dont have a queue forming, waiting for you to break camp!
always best to phone, as we are a bit behind the times and the tinterweb is a bit more then a lot of the campsites can cope with!!
