We live in the North East of England and have never been past London (I know shocking) but next year we are going to be adventurous and are looking for a campsite somewhere on the south coast. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We have a son who will be 9 who likes riding his bike and making new friends on site in the play area - anything more than a playpark would be a bonus.
We like to be quite central to things to do but don't mind a bit of a drive or a walk to reach places.
Cheers
Jeff

We stayed on a Haven site last year in Weymouth. We all loved the beach at Weymouth as its very calm and you can swim in the sea. We got a blow up boat and the kids loved being in that. It's very shallow water.
We'd love to go back but there are so many other places that we want to go to lol

Wareham Forest is good, semi wooded site , play area and open air pool.
You can drive to places like Poole, Bournemouth and the New Forest in less than half an hour. Weymouth is probavly less than an hour. All have great beaches and good for a day out. Monkey world is really close as well.
How about checking out The New Forest sites. Plenty of things to do, cycling, walking, riding etc. The coast is within a short drive, and the sites are either fairly basic or with more facilities, depending on what you are looking for.

Norden Farm at Corfe Castle. Not much of a 'kid's play area' but it's a working farm and kids have been known to help cows give birth so it's quite an adventure! Great site, fab location - near the steam train, walking distance to Corfe village with the castle, shops, pubs, model village, 15 mins drive to Studland with the best beaches, and Swanage, a lovely seaside town with another great beach.
The CCC site at Norman's Bay is also very nice, popular with families, and right on the shingle beach. Lovely area but fairly quiet in the immediate location though.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
