We went to look at a site near Evesham which is attached to a working farm and has statics there also.  There are no hard standing whatsoever and everything is on grass.  Place looked tidy but in desperate need of renovation.  Anyway went to inquire about prices.  They want £140 per month plus £2.50 for every night you are on site for electric.  Well out of town and virtually no facilities.  Also gets boggy when it rains.  The season was from 1st April to 31st October.
I think we are better off where we are at present as we pay approximately £122 per month and .12p per unit for electric as they have meters.  We use about 4 units per 24 hours.  The site is within 10 minutes walk of the town centre, has a club on site, a laundry, dog walking area and a local pub about 5 minutes walk.  Their season is 11 months and 1 month's storage thrown in effectively making it a 12 month season.
I think the farmer was trying it on at the prices he quoted as another clean site nearby with all the facilities was about the same price and also a lot closer to the town.  Do these people think we are all suckers.  Have you had a similar experience?

Yes i have had the same, BUT like an idiot i went on the site cos it was a bit closer to home. Then as a week or two passed they started changing the laws of the site, so i pulled off, luckly i managed to get back on the seasonal pitch back in cornwall. The woman who owned the site was a right pain in the A*se, They even changed the contract , stateing no elecy equipment in the awning.

Our seasonal pitch plus winter storage came to £1,950 for next year in South Devon.  The season is short, mid March to the end of October.  Most pitches are hardstandings but there is nothing on site other than a laundry and showers/toilets.

We don't have to pay anything on top of that for electric or per night occupancy.  It is about the going rate in South Devon which seems to be mega expensive for seasonal pitches.  More and more sites are shutting their seasonal sections and installing statics or log cabins so most places have long waiting lists too.

According to snowy747 a business opportunity looms for someone and hopefully that someone will make all us tourers looking for a seasonal site happy!  17

It won't happen, planning don't seem to sanction too many new sites and lets face it we are a small island with limited space so you can't blame them.  If more money can be made from log cabins and statics then site owners are going to go down that avenue I guess.

I'd like the season to be much longer, I don't see why I have to walk away from my van for 4 1/2 months of the year, sigh.

This one in Essex does seasonals pitches and charges £1275 from March to end of October and £255 for indoor winter storage, mainly grass pitches, clean loos and showers and two mins walk from a beach, pretty much a quiet site, quite pleasant.

I had a seasonal pitch last year and paid £950 plus electric at the end of the season which was on a separate meter and totalled £43 for the 7 months.

The only problem was that it worked out expensive as I didn't use it enough to break even on the per night price.

I don't think I would have another seasonal pitch until I knew I would get my money's worth.

Wyton lakes in Huntingdon Cambs.

As I said I felt I didn't get good value due to not using it enough.

We use our caravan virtually every weekend and usng a CL costs us between £16 and £20 for a weekend excluding travelling costs which probably add on another £10 at least.  So for about £26 a weekend, good valur especially if the weekend is from Thursday through to Sunday evening leaving when it suits you.
