Waterside House Ulswater, very large lake side site------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.

Sorry to contradict you Safeway56 but we have just returned from Castlerigg Farm Campsite and they don't allow fires. Its a cracking site with great views and facilities, they allow bbq's and also provide bricks to put the bbq's on to prevent them burning the grass but no fires.
We've also stayed at Lanefoot campsite near Braithwaite and they do allow fires, the farmer even provides the wood but the facilities are not as good.

Quite right J Bell...I was getting a little confused. The site I was intending to point out allows fires and provides a car wheel to use as a pit.
