Hi

What success do you have when e mailing campsites about booking a pitch?

I get about one in three replying and the ones that do usually reply very quickly and efficiently.

There are then the two out of three who don't seem to bother and these sites are not the small farm sites but the larger sites.

Do most of fellow campers arrange bookings over the phone?

Yorkkie

I usually email and 9 times out of 10 I get a quick response.
I print a copy of the email confirmation to take with me but I often ring as well to confirm my booking especially if I'm travelling a long way to a site.

Depends - when I was looking for a site back in May, I must have emailed 10 or so and got 5 or 6 replies. But then when I booked later in the season, all the ones I emailed replied.

I usually e-mail if its short notice and not a school holiday.  For our main holiday, site belongs to the CC, I have to phone the site direct as we have a tent pitch which isn't on the CC website.

If they don't reply I go else where !

We have been very successful with e-mailing sites for both info and booking.

If we are booking at short notice, which these days is a rare occurrence then we phone as well to make sure.

Not as yet had a site that didnt reply, which is as I expect. If the site publishes an e-mail address as a method of contact then they should have the courtesy to reply just the same as if you phoned or actually wrote to them. In the event that a site didn't reply to an email then we wouldn't use them. After all if they do respect you enough to reply to a query what sort of service will you get when you are on their site camping?

We only go camping to see what we have forgotten and what we need to get for next time. If only we could remember where we put the list..................
