We're pretty new to the C&CC(well,we've been in it a year but only used it twice!)and due to the weather,we're looking to alter a booking which we've got coming up.
We want to push back a three night stay at Oxford but the online system is telling us that we can't because it's within an 8 day limit!?...
(We were due to arrive next thursday)
Does anyone know if we are likely to have more luck by ringing the site direct or is this a hard and fast rule?
Chris

if you want to change a booking then they will put your deposit in a holding account for you to use a a later date but if you are 7 days or less away then you lose deposit but with the current weather I think that would be a bit unfair so I would ring them in the morning and ask them.

The rules changed this year, see page 175 in the 2010 "Your place in the country".
You need to ring to cancel now and if within 7 days you loose your deposit. There is an "Exceptions" policy that they may consider but if pitches are still suitable for camping it is up to them.
We had the same situation last year,we were booked on a site at Chichester and although the weather wasnt as bad there we were snowed in.
We rang the site and they had been told by their head office to let people transfer their bookings to a later date because it wasnt wise to encourage people to travel.
Yep..we had a message back from the site yesterday..and the lady said that,at the moment, they were still "snowed in"..but that if things don't improve they were happy to let us shift the dates..
(..although for us it'll have to be soon,as we're approching the end of the holiday year, with work!)
