now that it looks like the big freeze is at an end we are hopng to escape for a week. anyone know of any nice quiet sites open within 1 to 2 hours of durham. not bothered about entertainment just want clean and quiet

Hate to be the realist but its only mid january. We may well get another "big freeze". Doesn't bother us too much in the caravan but don't plan to go expecting brilliant weather. This is the UK!

What about Strid Wood ,Bolton Abbey near Skipton. Lovely quiet site and lovely walks.Beware of The Strid though, very dangerous.
