I was just wondering what peoples opinions are of Park Resorts sites. I just got a brochure through today.

We camped (tent) with them a few years ago over bank holiday in Kessingland and have mixed feelings about it. The good facilities were spoiled by the thoughtlessness of some other campers (not PR's fault) but the pitch we stayed on was awful partly because of the awful weather prior to our trip, but I've never seen a pitch so bad, we had to navigate around mini swamps!

Now we are in a caravan the facility issue wouldn't arise (I adore my end washroom) but are there other considerations?

Thanks in advance

Helen

We've stayed on quite a few park resort sites and they all vary in quality imo.Bank holidays are really busy at these sites and thats when you tend to get the trouble makers sometimes who spoil it for others. I think it all boils down to what you expect from a site and what  you end up with.If you have been used to quiet tranquil sites where the owner knows you by name then you will have quite a suprise at a big commercial site such as park resorts.

Just read your post more closely. You may still want to take advantage of your end washroom if you witness some of the things i have last year in park resort toilets lol.

Only ever stayed at one, Towyn. Wasn't impressed tho' I'm sure they vary. Even less impressed when a salesman called at the van and offered to take my Senator in part ex for one of their statics. No chance !!         Mick

We have stayed at Nodes Point (Isle of Wight) several times.  The touring pitches are not too close to the Clubhouse and there is a warden on the touring site.  We were not disturbed by noisy neighbours - although this was the end of September.

The facilities are excellent - a fairly new block - and the beach is just outside the gate. The pitches are a good size, although the non EHU area is sloping in places.

we've stayed at nodes point a few times and loved it - well away from the entertainment and right by the beach if camping, gorgeous views of the bay - blissful!

However I got the brochure through also and the prices were for pitches 6mx6m and the prices were a lot more than we paid 2 years ago so would put me off a bit, we paid 20 per night and our tent is 6.5metres but you can usually bargain with park resorts on the price.

Good luck

Not our style at all. I would rather stay at our local recycling centre. Far too busy far too commercial far too many people.

I have been in (but not actually stayed at) both Camber sands and weymouth. Both looked good and seemed to have a nice atmosphere.

Like Nappyweb I've been on site at Camber tho not stayed there. It's an all singing all dancin' type site with pools and loadsa entertainment. The touring area is alongside the the main road but is flat and level. The toilet block is modern and clean. As for alternatives, look at Marlie Farm at New Romney or New Beach at Dymchurch.    Mick

Fantastic site at Eyemouth, that they took over a couple of years ago, but have stayed at Sandy Bay and Crimdon Dene and have never been so glad to go home.

Stayed many times at Skipsea sands , the site is ok but the bar staff all have an attitude problem. Ty mawr at Towyn is a bad example of a Park resorts site  , really rough.
