We have camped at lovely budget basic campsites for years but I am getting to the stage (due to the British weather!) that I really have to have a holiday where I don't have to plod across a muddy field with my torch to have a wee!
This year I NEED a toilet and shower in my accomodation.
Anyone know of any sites with statics (not the big commercial ones as they cost a fortune) - however my children (5&7) have pleaded that there be a kids club - but that is debatable.
Right now, I need a starting point.
ANY camp sites with statics that don't cost an arm and a leg that you could recommend...anywhere in the country will do right now. Just looking for ideas.
Thanks! x

Dont know how much they will be, but Whitehill Country park have statics, in the past they were not as expensive as some of the bigger parks, but that might have changed.
It is near Paignton in Devon and is really nice.
I would be wary of booking one through the internet unless you are really sure of what you are doing. Friends of ours got badly caught out, but then they werent careful enough about checking things out, before they paid the deposit.
Im sure others will be on soon with suggestions.
Hi.You might find that all sites with statics will charge you an arm and a leg.You can get really cheap deals off peak at haven and park resorts but obviously with children it looks like you will be going in school holidays where the prices go through the roof.Your best bet would to look in your local paper and on shop notice boards etc as thats where you might find good deals where people are renting out their statics to help with the ground rent.Sorry i couldnt be more help.

I didnt mention Dawlish Sands because we've beeen going there for about 10 years but they almost doubled their prices when they were taken over by Park. Still my favourite in that area but sadly I think they're overpriced now compared to previous years,

Ah fair enough homebird, they was always cheaper than Welcome and we've been several times BUT the last few times we've gone it's been on Sun holidays so doesn't matter what the brochure price is LOL
Tho last yr they let us extend to a full wk for £50 this yr they've offered the extension £60 BUT have refused to let us extend as we're going Easter Monday and it's peak time. When i tried she totally refused and also refused to believe we'd been able to do it last yr for the same time. Well we did and we only booked the sun holiday there for Easter this yr cos we thought we'd be able to do it again. Last yr we got a full wk from easter Sat for about £150 when the midweek was 199 in brochure ( saved a fortune - which is why they cottoned on this yr)

You're lucky getting it on Sun holidays Shelli, I tried loads of times without any success. When they were owned privately the office team were so much friendlier, I arranged for my daughter & her friend to have a week there as a pre-university holiday even though single sex groups were not allowed. Do you remember Gary & Angie Jay, the entertainers?
well Homebird thank you for that little insight most useful.... Like i mentioned in my previous post the brochhure price for us didn't matter. We've always used Dawlish sands and I wouldn;t use Hazelwood at Easter due to only having an outdoor pool.
BUT I've just compared the three parks for two peak dates and to say my gob is well and truly smacked would be an understatment LOL
prices for 7 nights (6 berths)
Hazelwood Dawlish Sands Welcome
April 3 £203 £284 £150
May 29 £391 £509 £365
Am shocked at how the prices differ. I always checked the prices of all teh parks when we staying to make sure i got the best deal next time. AND Welcome was always more expnsive, and althought we usually camp so wouldn't use these sites I'd have avoided Welcome based on past knowledge.

And yes i do remember Gary and Angie they lived in Teignmouth didn't they??
There used to be a really nce lady in teh office she was SO nice we used to take her an easter egg each yr LOL. And yes i agree the office staff aren't so nice now. The one i spoke to a couple of weeks ago, was not very nice at all.
Last yr whoever I spoke to was brilliant. When u extend the week u should normally keep the midweek and then tag a wk end on one end. But I wanted Sat to Sat. The lady was brilliant I could hear her saying well if i move them there.... and them there...... and then I can put you in there. And cos i got to talking to her she gave us a 3 bedroom van instead of a two ( i'd been saying how i wasn't keen on sleeping in the front room) She didn't charge for this.
This yr when i tried to extend she refused to let me extend in any shape or form cos we're booked to arrive Easter Mon, and either of the wk ends are classed as peak times, and she admitted they'd rather wait and hope they get someone booking rather than have mmy booking for definate!!!! When i said i'd had no issuse last yr, she refused to believe me that i'd been able to even book it. She's advised me to call back nearer the time and if they can fit me in they will. IF it didn't make my life SO much easier to be picked up on the Saturday rather than the friday I'd tell them where to stick their holiday. And I'll look elsewhere if i get a sun code again. Loyalty obviously counts for nothing with them now.

I didnt get my priority code this year. One time we booked a Saturday-Saturday holiday at Dawlish Sands & they phoned to ask if we'd like to go on the Thursday before at no extra charge, so my husband, me, the baby & the dog went on Thursday while mum looked after our other two school age children, then hubby drove back to pick them all up early Saturday morning.
Yes, Gary & Angie lived locally - I missed them when they moved on.
I didnt like the Welcome as it was difficult to get a table in the clubhouse although its a very long time since we stayed there. Price wise it appeals to me this year, we always go to Dawlish Warren for October half term
Yes very sorry Milkshake, Dawlish is a lovely area to visit tho.
Homebird
when we go to Dawlish we tend to go at easter, and as my four like swimming thats why we never used Hazelwood. Welcome was mre expensive and we'd heard the tales of queues from very early evening to get into the club to get a table. So always used DSands suited us totally. I think I've got a photo of either Gary or Angie on stage with my youngest for the little prince comp which he won!!! must be about 6/7yrs ago??? and some brilliant photos of the old amn in womans clothing for another comp... best bit was when he was asking the audience for clothes etc some woman pulled a pair of knickers from her handbag ........ the mind boggles lol

Oh yes, we had the same games in October - dont they ever get bored with doing them!! Went to Hazlewood last year & didnt enjoy the clubhouse, went up the road to the pubs instead. My oldest two are grown up now & brought their partners with them so we had 3 chalets for the price of one caravan at Dawlish sands
