We are looking for a site for a weekend somewhere in the Lakes next month. Hardstanding pitches are a must and with good access from the M6 as my husband gets worried about narrow/twisty roads and we dont want to spend ages getting to the site from the motorway as only there for a weekend. Somewhere with shops/pub/village/ nice walks to would also be ideal. We will have our 11yr old daughter with us too.

Any ideas? Havent visited the area in years so am pretty clueless. I've had a look at the site reviews but still would appreciate any suggestions.

Would Moss Thorn Farm CL be any good? It must be about the nearest site to the M6, has hardstandings and ehu, a loo but no shower, near Penrith and only a few miles to the Lakes, and is cheap.

Sorry, You are in a tent I think? this site is only for caravans and motorhomes.

We stayed at White cross bay a year ago. It was a bit pricey but nice. You are at the top end of a fairly posh static site. There were about 30 touring pitches if I remember correctly.
The site is just outside Windermere, so 20 mins from m6 but very easy driving all the way.
It was ok for us and had an indoor swimming pool (to pay for) on site too.

In that case my suggestion might be ok, but you need to be CC members to use the site. It's a bit basic, but was only £8 per night last year. The hardstandings are a bit skinny though.

Castlerigg hall is my choice. All hard standing very good shop and restaurant on site and a 20 min walk into Keswick itself ( Downhill going uphill coming back!!) The walking is fabulous as is the site itself!! and about 18 miles from the M6.

Suggest you try Windermere or Troutbeck C & C sites. Windermere short drive off M6 with only 1 narrow road on the entrance to site. Troutbeck very easy to access. We new caravanners last year and are still getting used to towing. Both sites gave us no problems accessing.

We would recommend Troutbeck CC as a really great site - easy to access, superb facilities and great views.

Troutbeck C&C is also good but access can be a bit tricky if wet
