If you can manage without electric and showers/toilets, join the camping and caravanning club and go on one of their rallies or temporary hoilday sites. Booking is often not necessary, even at Easter.
Might be best to look at some big commercial sites.They seem to have more cancellations than smaller sites so you just might drop lucky.I know what you mean about a tiny touring caravan.Theres not many smaller than ours but if you book a touring pitch with ehu,you pay just as much as a 23 footer.

Have you tried the Grouse & Claret at Rowsley, they are often happy to let you use a corner of the car park if they are really full. Worth giving John the owner a call

We have had the same problem and have now today booked in at the Providence Inn near Malton in a village called Yeddingham. The owners sound lovely and its a 5 pitch site with CCC. However that field with electric is booked but we have got on the paddock next door with a stream running through it. We can use our genny, but will only use it to charge up so not to upset anyone.. may be worth giving it a try? Nice part of the country and near whitby etc...
