Hi guys, first post (of many hopefully :)) for me and it's a cry for help.

We're off to Scotland for a thing we can't get out of Saturday night of the Bank holiday weekend and want to do ONE night (Sunday) in our camper on the way back. Yup, that's right. One night, Bank Holiday Weekend, The Lake District.

Are we being madly deluded in thinking we'll get one night anywhere? I've started looking and everywhere seems to be a 3 night minimum. I'm starting to think we might end up wild camping

So does anyone know of a site that would take a VW camper van (and awning) for one night on probably their busiest weekend of the season?

Are you CC members? Moss Thorn Farm CL near Penrith might have room. Basic but cheap and a few miles from Ullswater. It's near the motorway, but you can't hear it.

I'd avoid Cartmel if the races are on - it will be a nightmare (traffic usualy back up for miles and hours)

We were wondering whether it would be worthwhile taking a long list of campsite numbers and ringing on the Sunday as we are driving down from Scotland to see if anywhere had any cancellations other than that we're kinda running out of options - girlfriend doesn't want to wild camp

Westmoreland Caravan Park right off the M6 just after/before J38 (?)
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4862

Not to ofar off the motorway fom J38 - about 7 miles is Bowber Head.
Give them a ring - not a huge site but may take you for just the one night. Owners are really lovely (friends of mine)
