We went to River Valley last September near St Austell. Lovely clean site with indoor pool, adjacent to the site is a riverside walk that adjoins woodland - you can either explore the woods or walk the river trail (all safe and offroad) 2.5 miles to the village of Pentewan which has a beach but unfortunately dogs are not permitted during the summer months.
I'd also be interested in any recommendations on sites near beaches that pemit dogs- tried the search ratty but though you get sites that accept dogs you don't know if the nearby beaches permit them.

This is were we often go - it's Mother Ivey's Bay nr Padstow. WE've camped here, stayed in their static vans and are taking our van this year.
It has it's own beach which, as you can see, is dog-friendly. No forest/woods to walk in but lots of lovely coastal walks. It's a quiet site - no club/pool. There is Harlyn Sands CP next door that has entertainment & indoor pool if that is what you like

Ross Park in Devon is VERY dog friendly, the site is excellent, only downside is lack of dog friendly beaches, there are walks nearby however and they have a big off lead doggy exercise area and doggy shower facilities.

I third Ross park, another one is Trethem mill, it has an even bigger dog meadow, only prob is its 4 miles from nearest beach, and atleast Ross park has the bar with its dog friendly conservatory next to it.
Another dog friendly site is Bolberry farm, it has a dog field, and a mile walk to hope cove, and all dog friendly pubs close by. Its on the south hams, gorgeous area.

I forgot Trethem mill, lovely site - peaceful and by far the biggest "on site" dog walk we have come across. It is like a large meadow with mown paths and benches in the right places.

I had booked Magic Cove at Mawgan Porth in Cornwall near Newquay, unfortunately had to cancel due to work committments, but we were planning on taking our two labradors and its on a dog friendly beach...
Damage Barton in Woolacombe Devon, is a lovely place for dogs, no wooded walks though, but costal path straight from the camp site with spectacular views. If you book, the best pitches are via the Camping and Caravan Club, though all have sea views.
we have one very young lab full of energy but also have an old placid rotti. Many campsites seem to have a problem with our old dog and she is the well behaved one!!!! Even on dog friendly sites people do not like our rottie. We took both dogs camping last weekend for the first time in our new folding camper. the young lab was actually very well behaved unlike at home, but several people had a problem with our rottie. We were sited right next to the dog field so every one with a dog had to walk past us and our rottie barked just like all the other dogs but because of her size, deep bark and the rep that rotties have,several people commented.

Our Golden Retriever loved it there.
Walks from site - dogs aloud on Rockham Beach,
also allowed on Putsborough Sands which is close by.
Lovely walks also on Exmoor (Valley of the Rocks).
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
