We were booked into Bwych Yn Uchaf camping and caravanning site at Bala for the easter break on a hardstanding pitch. But were contacted by the site owner 2 days before to say that the site was too wet and would stay closed over the easter break. We were so dissapointed. and vainly tried to book us and our friends onto another site with no luck. just wondered how many others had their easter break ruined by the bad weather. Although last year we stayed on other sites with 2 to 3 inches of water lapping around the awning with no problems and even barbequed in snow before now. To get out this weekend we drove us and friends to elan valley rhayader mid wales the water overflowing the reservoirs was fantastic and the scenery breathtaking. we also went to see the red kite feeding at Nant yr Arian forest visitor centre. would recommend this to anyone. and its free, just £1.50 to park. On the way home we diverted to the Royal Hill pub between melverley and pentre for an evening meal which was absolutely delicious and well worth a visit. they also have a very nice camping and caravan site on the side of the river severn.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We hadn't booked to go away, but the Campsite we rang to book our summer break with, confirmed they had rung all the people that had booked for Easter and told them not to come as the site was waterlogged.
I can understand the disappointment, but they don't take deposits, so at least there wouldn't be a problem getting a refund.
This would have been the start of the season for them, and they didn't want to ruin the site, so are staying closed for a while.

We had booked hardstandings for the Easter break as we thought this would be the best option. We did not expect to have the booking for these cancelled.
On our travels over the weekend we noticed a number of caravan sites with caravans and tents on grass pitches, seeing these made us very envious.
We have now made a booking for next weekend (at another site) in order to compensate.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
