I need a site that is within an hour or so from Birmingham as I have to attend a work event for a couple of hours one evening over the BH weekend. We are coming from sheffield. I have spent hours on the map search, looking at reviews & now exhausted. A lot of places are of course already booked, but not all. We have a place at Wolvey if we want it. The thing is I am booking for us and some friends who are coming with us & we are only camping in that area to suit me, so I feel a bit responsible! Would welcome any recommendations or ideas as to good areas to go for. We are 2 familes including toddlers, baby & pregnant lady, looking for tent pitches + EHU. Clean facilities are important for the little ones as is easy access to the toilets
Thanks :-)

Thanks Ratty- have been doing the pinpoint search & reading reviews for about 3 weeks now and just worn out with it!
Kingsbury we were originally going to but it is going to be £37 per night for our friends (non members) £30 for us with not EHU, I think because they have jumbo pitches left.
Have been looking at Clent (was put off by someone's review but the rest look good so will ring them in the morning) & we absolutely lovely the look of the Much Wenlock site but they are full. DIdnt find Pillaton Hall Farm so will look at that now :-)

Pillaton Hall looks good. It is the first review section I have seen with a reply from the site to a bad review- shows they are on the ball and take it seriously.
Does anyone know how far the lakes are from the camping area. Toddlers and water make me very nervous, but we have stayed at a few sites with lakes and it has not been a problem as long as we have been able to camp away from them

Hi,
The pools are amongst the pitches, we go regularly and have never heard of anyone falling in, they are fished from dawn til dusk so it's highly unlikely a child could fall in and not be seen.
It was originally built as a fishery and the camp site has gradually evolved around it.
We don't use their facilities as we use the ones in the 'van but I know they have had comments about them not being very clean sometimes, I know for definite they are cleaned daily and I also know the owners do read comments on this site and are on a learning curve regarding running a successful site.
I'd go for Pillaton as well - having been twice and going again later in the year.
I would say that so long as you remain central then you will be OK. We had lots of children on the meet last Sept and no one went near the water, as far as I know, unless they were fishing. The play area is so good and all fenced in that the children want to stay there, or in the sand pit, all the time. Have a look on the site map - it's very accurate and you can pick out suitable pitches (as long as they are available)
Toilets and showers are perfectly fine and have seen a lot lot worse. They are sometimes a bit dirty but that's more down to the people who are abusing them (and have no idea why people do this).
They are certainly cleaned every morning and you only have to tell them that there's a problem and they send someone to sort it out asap.

It sounds a long way, but what about Conkers C&CC site, Moira. It's fairly close to the M42 and I reckon you could do it in less than an hour. It depends where you want to get ot in B'ham really.
Have a look at Bosworth Water Trust. Nice area for children to paddle in, sand to play in. Good play area, crazy golf etc. I believe it is in the Cool Camping for family's guide. There is sailing, canoeing and rowing boat hire. Also a cafe if the weather is not too good.
Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone! Just emailed Pillaton (they are closed now). Conkers & Lickhill & Chapel Lane we had tried but already full. Bosworth we were really put off by recent reviews-eek! Going to look into Lea Marston tomorrow but when we spoke to C&CC they said all their sites were full in that area.
Thanks again everyone :-)
