try the chester fairoaks caravan club site, its only a couple of miles away from chester zoo and a 10/15 min walk to cheshire oaks retail park where you would beable to catch a bus

The C&CC site at Delamere is right by a station with trains for Chester, but then you'd have to get a bus to the zoo from Chester station.
I don't think it would be very easy to get to Chester zoo from the Plassey on public transport.

Yes they do,we stayed there for our vist to the zoo and there were tents in the far corner and have just checked the website there is also a park and ride at the zoo for Chester.
Cheshire Oaks shopping centre is just across the road and there are a couple of good pubs nearby.

you can even walk to the Zoo from Chester Fairoaks, it's probably about a mile or so on the back lanes. Might be a bit far for a 4 year old though. There are tents on the field to the right as you drive in.
Several pubs nearby, all of the family type as well as KFC's and the like at Cheshire Oaks, all within walking distance. The nearest proper pub is probably the Bunbury Arms in Stoak village but they also do meals, no public transport though.
You'd have to go to Cheshire Oaks to get close to regular public transport to Chester.

Aren't they an Adult Only site? Stayed there a number of years ago and I'm sure they were then, or have they changed?
Edited to say I was wrong, have just looked at the website, sorry! ------------- Ina
