Me and the family are looking for out of the way camping site (pay or free), somewhere private and secluded. if there was a river nearby or something to keep the kids interested, that would be a bonus. Facilities are not a must

can anybody help?

C&CC site at Barnard Castle. River nearby and large waterfalls,High Force, a short drive in to Teesdale. The site is outside Barney, local name, however very accessible for shops, pubs and castle if required. A small playpark on site which my kids enjoyed. Not sure where your travelling from but plenty to do in the wider area and accesible from A1 or A66.
