I used to live there - the Punchbowl was one of my regular watering holes! I don't recall there being any camp sites nearby though. The nearest seems to be Lambhowe, opposite the Damson Dene pub. Walkable, but its a long, unlit road with no footpaths. Lambhowe

Have to agree with cathy - there really aren't any within walking distance of The Punch Bowl.

I wouldn't want to walk the roads up the Lythe Valley in the dark.

Are you going with a van?

OH thinks there may be something on the Underbarrow road but he can't recall anything within about 5 miles (though stands to be corrected)
Also could be one up near Strawberry Bank.

The Punch Bowl isn't as good as it used to be when Steven Dougherty had it. It's still supposed to be one of the 'in places' to go but OH has relief chef'd there and wasn't treated very well. More about the number of covers they can do and how much they can charge (our opinions only and nothing else)
Same people now own The Plough at Lupton ~ due to open soon.
