Hi there,

Im planning on venturing to Shell Island with my young family in the second week of June....as it is such a large place to pitch, does anyone have any thoughts/hints/tips on where would be a good place to pitch?

Thanks

Kelly

I would say it all depends on which way the wind is blowing - if it's coming up from the South East you can get away with pitching right by the sea but if it's coming from anywhere else try and find some shelter. (tbh it doesn't really matter because it changes direction every day so you can't get away)

If you have a loo you can venture into the dunes and find a really nice spot in the woods up there but if you need to be nearer to the facilities (I don't think they have the portaloos set up until later on) then there are some very nice spots on the harbour side with lovely views overlooking the causeway and the mountains.

It should be fairly quiet as its outside the school holidays. Have you got Google earth on your computer?  It's free to download and you can fly about the site and try and pick out a good spot.

Have a great time.
