We went there a few years ago now, it could have changed since we visited, but it was very geared up to static caravans and in my opinion tourers were an after- thought, I think you pay for the entertainment and on site facilities, e.g. pool, takeaway and bar. If you like large commerial sites then this would be great, but if like us you prefer a smaller quieter site, then possibly not. We found toilets and showers o.k. but not the best we have seen and not always very clean.
Hope this helps a little but it is only my opinion and not everyone looks for the same in a site.
hi,
we are returning to warren mill this summer after having a great holiday there last year. We loved the site, it is bigger and more commercial than we would choose if going for a weekend but for our main summer holiday it suited us well, our nine year old loved the pool and we had no complaints. We spent most of the holiday travelling round the local area alnwick, holy island etc being half an hour at most away. There was a games rooms used by the kids and a bar/restaurant which served food which seemed popular to many campers (we had a snack there one night but ate our own food most of the time as we were on a strict budget) Don't remember any entertainment going on in the bar when we were in there which made it even more enjoyable for us as me and OH don't really like the cheesy caberet/disco etc scene and much prefer playing cards with a good bottle of wine. Toilets and Showers were clean and fine when we were there but we were blessed with fantastic weather the whole time which always seems to help keep facilities clean. Was pricey but the fantastic location meant that with some planning around spending money we definately felt it worth the money.
expensive used to have just a few statics and lots of tourers but like many sites the statics have taken over now another haven site if that is whast you want then go lots to do onsite but if you are after the quieter tourer world you'll have to go more inland i fear
use to take 6th formers there for the week for a field course eons ago it seems
Do a search on here using the map facility and you should turn up a number of altrnatives. Are you in the CCC? Beadnell takes motorhomes - as does Dunstan Hill but it's most likely fully booked at this time of year. There are some farm sites and small commercial sites. Read reviews before you choose.

If you are taking a tent this may explain why it works out expensive. We have been twice to this site and both times were for spring bank week. First time we went we paid £26 for a tent pitch (no electric!) which i thought was very expensive but they said we had to have 2 pitches due to size of tent. We went this time in our carvan with awning and 3 kids and paid £24.50 a night with electric for the same week but 2 years later, which for the site i thought was good value to be honest. But you used to have to have 2 pitches for larger tents wereas now they charge a large pitch suppliment so it works out cheaper but still a lot more expensive than taking a caravan on a normal size pitch. It is a good site though in a great location with good play equipment and we were able to make full use of the pool as it was so warm when we went.
Thanks guys, think we are going to look at somewhere else if we can get in, its only for a weekend and as long as it has a park thats all that matters really
If your looking inland I can highly recomend Wooler. We stayed at Riverside in a static a couple of years ago and had a fabulous time, they had pitches at Riverside. We had a look around HIghburn house which is also in Wooler, we thought it was a beautiful site.
Wooler is a quaint town with plenty of pubs that do food and a great base for exploring Northumberland.
