Hi there! We're looking for a really simple site which will take tents and caravans. EHU would be good for our friends in van but not essential. We'd just like some decent loos and a shower that's not in someone's house! (We're not members of the CCC but are willing to join if we find a couple of really nice CSs this year.) If we could actually be IN the forest that would be grand too! Thanks in advance!

Hi, we go to Sherwood forest hol park every half term in Oct for their Halloween fest.
Its a fab park....good choice of pitches. Its only a short drive to Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest, also Sherwood Pines Forest. Best Playareas for kids there that Ive ever seen!
The site its surrounded by trees and has lots of walks from it. One up into a forest.
Hope this helps.

------------- Smile, it makes "em wonder what youve been doing!
I only live a few miles from the Orchard Park and can highly recommend it, We have even stayed here ourself to try our new tent out! Nice clean site and friendly owners. It's only 15 minutes drive from Sherwood Forest plus Clumber Park, Rufford and Sherwood Pines are all close too.
It had been raining heavily when we visited Orchard Park and as we have a 4x4 we were put on the grass at the far end by the trees instead of the family who pulled in behind us.
It was the worst pitch we have ever been on and ended up with mud every where and certainly needed our 4x4 as we sank in to the ground. It was very dark at that end too.
Everyone else was on hard standings.
It made it worse as one of the girls was ill in the night and had to trail to the showers through the mud, this is one site we will never return to.
Robin Hood retreat looks possible (prefer a website though tbh) but even that is more than we'd like to pay (£12 for no EHU). Perhaps I'm being a little unrealistic?!
Thanks.

Unfortunately at the moment this site is reasonably priced. Believe me theres a hell of a lot, that is more expensive, as we have found ourselves this year. There could be some small certificated sites around thats cheaper, but this one isnt bad. Quite fancy it myself.
I think you are being unrealistic, it's a prime area of the country and faciliites have to be paid for and cleaned etc...
We use CS's at £5 a night but no loo's, showers or EHU.
We paid £7.50 in Wales last year and that had a small toilet block but no showers. Many CS's have EHU for their caravan pitches so that might be a bit less of the issue but it might leave you on a tarmac section or you might need a long lead to get to the EHU.

If you type Robin Hood retreat into a google search, a competitor site has a couple of pictures of the site, also the link below it to aboutbritain has a few photos too.
