I'm looking for a nice site to visit for a weekend to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Looking forward to spending some quality time with my hubby and would like to eat out instead of cooking for a change!
We don't want to travel too far, maybe 1-2 hours away from where we live (Bradford). Can anyone recommend a site which has good pubs/restaurants within walking distance?

I've just reccommended this site to another camper but for a different reason - Serenity in Hinderwell, 8 miles north of Whitby. Very peaceful site with two pubs in the village, both serving food. Many people reccommend the one furthest away from the site but we preferred the Badger Hounds which is right across the road from the site entrance. Great food at really reasonable prices.

I have not come across any sites yet that has good food within a short walk from the site but I can recomend my favorite place to eat. It the Head of Steam on Huddersfield train station. Its a real ale pub and is on the real ale trail. It has its own website with the menu on it. I can highly recomend the butterfly chicken in creamy garlic and mushroom sauce. Sunday lunches are good too 3 coures for £9.50
If you stayed at Holme Valley Holmfirth you could catch the train from Brockholes a 5/10 min walk to the train, journey is 13 mins and there is a train everyhour. There is a pub within a 5 min walk of Holme Valley it`s not child friendly though so we don`t go in to often but it may be good for you. Saffron Indian in Holmfirth delivery to the site and there food is very good. One mile away is Holmfirth with quite a few pubs and places to eat.
Cote Gyll Osmotherly is a nice site with lots of pubs a short walk away not eaten in any but the menus looked good.
Scarborough C & CC site has a pub just off the site and another one about 10 mins walk away. Also easy walk, bus or car into Scarborough where there are loads of places to eat.
Quirksilversunshine we are going to do the real aletrail in September. If you Google Real ale trail there is a website that lists the pubs and you can build your own trail.
The ticket is around £10 pp and you have to change at Huddersfield and you are allowed one stop as well. We are going to stop at Greenfield on the way out to Stalybridge and Marsden on the way train back to Huddersfield. Spend some time in Huddersfield and then last train home. Lots of beers on route and a good meal in the Head of Steam.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
