Around Paignton area has some of best easily accessible sandy beaches. Don't know about campsites as only stayed with relatives.

Try googling Bantham Bay

You are spoilt for choice for a wide range of beaches in the area. They are virtually all sandy I think. the only thing for some beaches is to be aware of the tides so you get the most of day while there is some beach - miles of it at low tide, and nothing at high tide! Always plenty of sand at Bantham though.

Our favourites are Hope Cove (especially when there is an Easterly wind) or 4 miles away South Sands (sheltered when there is a Westerly wind). Both have parking near the beach, and refreshments and toilets, but are by no means built up or over commercialised.

Absolutely fabulous area!

Slapton and bee sands are not easy beaches to walk on! (pebbles)  Hope Cove/Bigbury/Salcombe/Blackpool Sands are all ok though, Blackpool Sands is a little bit coarse but is a lovely beach - privately owned.  Challaborough is a good sandy beach.

This website gives good info on all beaches in the area:
