Help anyone with local knowledge

We are wanting to get to a campsite for the august bank holiday weekend but we know this is last minute.

what we need is a quiet site that can handle a 8.5M * 8.5M tent and can get us easy access to Wembley.

seems a but of a problem to find one at the minute

Any help would be really appreciated

Thanks

Hi, we live fairly locally - I suspect there'll be a few people looking for sites after the semis!

I'm not sure about the pitch sizes, but you could try Highclare Farm, there seem to be trains running from Seer Green & Jordans to Wembley Stadium on the Saturday.  You could also drive to Chalfont & Latimer tube, but there's a rail replacement on that day between there and Northwood, so you'd need to leave extra time - track closures on TfL.

Treetops isn't too far from Gerrards Cross (Chiltern to Wembley Stadium) or Uxbridge (Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park - this branch doesn't have any works that weekend).

A bit further out, Home Farm is nice, you could get the train in from High Wycombe (Chiltern again) or drive along the M40 to Hillingdon or Uxbridge for the Metropolitan Line.

Wyatts Covert would be ideal, but unfortunately they don't take tents.

Hope this helps.

Hi bosshoge hgte, that's a shame they can't accommodate you.

Once again, I'm not sure about tent sizes (we don't have anything that big), but you could try:

Town Farm, Ivinghoe - you could get from Leighton Buzzard or Tring to Wembley Central, will need to change either at Watford Junction or Harrow & Wealdstone.  Slightly further out, try searching in the Milton Keynes area, which will be on the same line.

There is a very basic certified site called Oak Farm just outside Aylesbury, can't find a website but the phone number is 01296 709737;  from Aylesbury there are some trains to Wembley Stadium (you may have to change), or Wembley Park (you'll need to change at Harrow on the Hill for the Metropolitan line).

Chiltern Railways - getting to Wembley

You could try searching further around the M25 in Surrey, but that would involve either a journey back around the M25 to the met line, or public transport via London.

Good luck finding somewhere!

Sorry to drag this thread out of the depths, but I just wanted to say a big thank you to Fudge59... Booked into Highclere Farm for the evening of the forthcoming Mancunian FA Cup Semi-Final.. Without this thread, and more importantly, your fantastic knowledge that you kindly shared with ukcs members, would never have found such a good looking site within easy travel of Wem-ber-ley...

Cheers fudge.

& up the blues :-)
